Zaporizhstal halts operations after Russian missile strike. Seven employees killed, 21 injured

The Zaporizhstal steelworks has completely halted operations following a Russian missile strike on Zaporizhzhia. According to preliminary data, seven employees of the enterprise were killed, and another 21 were injured. The press service of the Metinvest group reported the attack, the PromPolitInform portal reports.

The strike occurred immediately after the air raid was announced, when the enterprise’s employees were heading for shelter. The company said that it was providing the necessary assistance to the victims and families of the deceased.

The attack damaged the energy units and infrastructure of Metinvest’s enterprises in Zaporizhzhia, as well as the main and auxiliary capacities of the coke and blast furnace industries.

Metinvest emphasized that the Zaporizhzhia enterprises of the group are civilian industrial facilities that employ tens of thousands of people and produce metallurgical and coke-chemical products.

The Zaporizhstal plant is now completely shut down, while the remaining production sites continue to operate, but at reduced capacity.
