The Ministry of Internal Affairs and deputies are preparing initiatives to strengthen responsibility for systematic violations of traffic rules.

In Ukraine, they decided to strengthen control over compliance with traffic rules. This week, dozens of new automatic speed cameras are planned to be launched, and “Phantom” patrol cars will be returned to the roads. As reported by the PromPolitInform portal, this was reported by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ivan Vyhivsky.

The relevant proposals were discussed during a meeting at the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the participation of the leadership of the National Police and the patrol police. As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, one of the main tasks is to minimize road accidents.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, together with the people’s deputies of Ukraine, has already developed a number of initiatives. We are intensifying cooperation and counting on the support of the parliament. There are solutions that we are already starting to implement at the level of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This, in particular, is the issue of strengthening control over speeding. Speeding is one of the main causes of road accidents,” the minister emphasized.

This week, Ukraine plans to launch dozens of new automatic recording cameras, and the places of their installation will be announced later by the patrol police. “Phantoms” will also be returned to the roads – invisible patrol cars with automatic recording systems for speeding violations.

“They worked only a month before the start of a full-scale war. And during this period, the police brought more than 26 thousand drivers who exceeded the speed limit to justice. “Phantoms” will return to the roads,” Vyhivskyi said.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that in the first weeks of August alone, more than 1,300 road accidents with victims were recorded in Ukraine. Therefore, it is not just about increasing fines, but about a set of measures to improve safety and form more responsible behavior of drivers on the roads.
