Moldova has introduced a 50% discount on transit rail transportation of Ukrainian goods through its territory. The new preferential tariff regime began to operate on August 10 and will last until the end of 2026. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Koretsky, Politarena reports. The PromPolitInform portal informs.
“Following the results of a recent conversation with the Prime Minister of Moldova Vasyl Tofan, an agreement was reached on a 50% discount on transit rail transportation of Ukrainian goods. The new regime is valid from August 10 until the end of 2026. This is another practical solution for Ukrainian exporters in the conditions of Russian terror in the Black Sea,” the head of the Ukrainian government noted.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the route through Moldova allows transporting Ukrainian products, including grain and ore, to the port of Reni, Moldovan ports on the Danube, as well as to the ports of Romania. This direction is an important alternative to sea routes and helps maintain the stability of Ukrainian exports.
In addition, according to him, from August 17, by agreement of the parties, the route of the Kyiv-Chisinau train is changing. This will allow Ukrainian passengers to get to the airport of the capital of Moldova more conveniently and faster.
