What do we know?
“As long as the illegal actions of the Russian Federation continue to violate the fundamental norms of international law, including, in particular, the ban on the use of force enshrined in Article 2 (4) of the Charter of the United Nations or international humanitarian law, it is advisable to uphold all measures introduced by the Union,” the decision said.
So, the sanctions were extended until February 24, 2027.
It is noted that the decision will enter into force on the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation – February 24, 2026.
In addition, the EU recalled the UN General Assembly Resolution of February 24, 2025. The document demands that the Russian Federation “immediately, fully and unconditionally” withdraw all its troops from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders and stop all military operations, including “attacks on the civilian population and civilian objects.”
