Shmyhal showed international partners the consequences of 13 attacks by the Russian Federation on the capital’s CHP.
Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal visited one of the CHP plants in Kyiv together with international partners.
He announced this in a telegram channel, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
“Today, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Council Antonio Costa, the President of Finland Stubb, the heads of governments of Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Norway, Croatia, Sweden, ministers and other high-ranking guests are with us,” the minister recalled.
For four years, 13 missile and drone strikes were launched at the CHP
As noted, Shmyhal demonstrated the consequences of Russian strikes.
“On such objects, war ceases to be a statistic or a picture on the screen. Here it is clear that Russia is fighting against light, against heat, against normality and the opportunity to live. This CHP provided heat to 500 thousand people in Kyiv. For four years, Russia launched 13 missile and drone attacks, of which 9 – over the past six months. In January, due to another blow, the station stopped producing electricity. And in early February, 5 ballistic missiles flew here – and heat production stopped. More than 1,100 apartment buildings, 118 schools and kindergartens, 18 hospitals were left without heating,” the report said.
More than 40 countries help Ukraine to restore energy
Shmyhal also added that more than 40 countries and organizations support Ukrainian energy this winter. In 2025, about 600 million euros were mobilized through the Energy Support Fund. During the full-scale war, Ukraine received more than 2,000 humanitarian supplies for the energy sector.
