Seven nuclear power units are currently operating in Ukraine’s energy system, while two more are undergoing scheduled repairs. This reduces the available amount of base generation.
In Ukraine, two nuclear power units are undergoing repairs, although scheduled work was supposed to begin later – at the end of March. As reported by “Comments“, this was reported by former Acting Minister of Energy Olga Bohuslavets. The PromPolitInform portal informs.
According to her, one power unit was disconnected on Saturday, March 7. Another unit in the middle of the week first went into emergency repairs, after which it was transferred to scheduled average repairs.
“Therefore, as of today, two power units are already undergoing scheduled repairs, which accordingly reduces the available amount of base generation,” Bohuslavets noted.
She also noted that in such a situation, even minor damage to the energy infrastructure can quickly affect the balance of the energy system. According to her, the risk of electricity shortages is especially high during the evening peak consumption hours. Currently, seven nuclear power units located in the controlled territory are operating in the Ukrainian energy system. Two more power units are undergoing scheduled repairs.
