On Sunday, April 5, Head of State Volodymyr Zelensky spent a busy day in the Syrian capital, where a series of bilateral and trilateral meetings with the participation of Turkey took place. The main topics of the dialogue were regional security, energy and expanding cooperation for stability in the world. He reported this on his Telegram channel, reports TrueUA. Trilateral format and new opportunities
According to the president, the talks in Damascus took place in several formats: from a personal meeting of leaders to expanded consultations of teams. Particular attention was paid to the trilateral dialogue between Ukraine, Syria and Turkey. As Zelensky noted, such cooperation opens up new horizons for security and economic growth.
“We are building new relations, new opportunities and expanding work for the sake of security,” he emphasized.
Energy, Defense, and Countering Russia
According to the Ukrainian leader, the agenda covered a wide range of critical issues. The presidents discussed the defense sector and the situation in the region surrounding the events in Iran. Separate points were energy independence and infrastructure restoration. The parties devoted a significant part of their time to the issue of ending the war in Ukraine.
“We spoke in detail about how to overcome the consequences of the war and the negotiation process regarding Russia’s war against our state and people,” the head of state said.
Supporting the new Syria
Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the Syrian people for the warm welcome and recalled that Ukraine was among the first countries to support the new Syria after the fall of the Assad regime. Kyiv confirmed its readiness to contribute to the stability and development of the region.
“We will work even more together so that our peoples, our countries are stronger and so that our economies can also become stronger,” he concluded.
Earlier it was reported that on April 5, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky began an official visit to the Syrian Arab Republic to hold a series of strategic talks. The Head of State has already met with the leader of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa, to discuss regional security issues and joint counteraction to Russian aggression.
As a reminder, a few days ago, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine had sent the US and the countries of the Middle East a clear signal of its readiness to join the discussion of the possible unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz and to share its own experience.
