Ukrainian film “2000 Meters to Andriyivka” among Emmy favorites: six nominations in key categories

Mstislav Chernov’s film “2000 Meters to Andriyivka” received six nominations at the 47th News & Documentary Emmy Awards and is presented in key documentary film categories.

The nominees were announced by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences of the USA. This year, the selection was made among more than 2 thousand works that aired in 2025. This is reported by Fakty, the PromPolitInform portal reports.

The ceremony will be held in New York at the Jazz at Lincoln Center in two stages: on May 27, awards will be presented in the news categories, and on May 28 – in the documentary categories.

The work of the Ukrainian team will compete in six categories:

Best Documentary;

Outstanding Current Affairs Documentary;

Outstanding Direction: Documentary;

Outstanding Writing: Documentary;

Outstanding Cinematography: Documentary;

Outstanding Editing: Documentary.

Academy President Adam Sharp noted that this year’s nominees reflect a wide range of views and help to understand more deeply important topics of our time.

Documentary Director Christine Chin emphasized that among them are both personal stories and large-scale research that expands the understanding of world events.

What is the film 2000 Meters to Andriyivka about

The film tells about the task of a Ukrainian unit – to pass through a fortified forest and liberate the strategically important village of Andriyivka.

The camera accompanies the military during this operation. The further they advance, the more clearly the reality of war – exhausting and long-lasting.

Filming began in September 2023, the total work lasted almost a year and a half. Photographer Oleksandr Babenko and producers Michelle Mizner and Rainie Aronson-Rath worked on the project.

Editing was done by Michelle Mizner. The music was written by two-time Grammy Award winner Sam Slater, known for the soundtracks to the TV series “Chernobyl” and the film “Joker”.
