The Finance Ministers of the Group of Seven countries, during a meeting in Paris, confirmed their common position on further strengthening pressure on Russia over its aggression against Ukraine. According to a French official, the participants in the negotiations from the USA, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan and Canada agreed to continue the sanctions policy against Russia to prevent the Kremlin from profiting from the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.
“The desire to put pressure on Russia is unanimous,” Lescure stressed during a press conference after the two-day meeting of ministers in Paris.
At the same time, he noted that the negotiations between representatives of the G7 countries were “frank and difficult”. The participants focused on finding both short-term and long-term solutions to respond to key challenges facing the global economy.
