President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Serhii Naumenko as the First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. He replaced Yevhen Ostrianskyi in this position. This was reported by Ukrinform, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The Head of State signed the corresponding decree No. 728/2026, which was published on the official website of the President. The previous official holding this position was dismissed by decree No. 727/2026.
The newly appointed official previously worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and has significant combat experience. The head of the agency emphasized the professional qualities of his subordinate and his ability to take responsibility and deliver results.
The system will strengthen defense capabilities through new technologies
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko stated that he knows Serhii Naumenko well from their joint work. According to him, the primary tasks will include enhancing coordination in the security and defense sector and developing technological capabilities.
Serhii Naumenko holds the rank of police colonel and had served as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine since September 2025. Prior to that, he oversaw aviation security at the ministry and headed drone reconnaissance at the frontline in 2022.
