Salaries and Bonuses for Military Personnel in 2026: Ministry of Defence of Ukraine Explains Financial Allowance Structure

Financial allowance for Ukrainian servicemen in 2026 consists of basic payments, additional rewards, and bonuses for combat achievements. The total amount of monthly combat payments can reach 460,000 hryvnias, to which basic allowance and one-time aid are added separately. The minimum payment for performing service duties starts from 30,000 hryvnias per month. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

Financial allowance for military personnel is paid by the 20th of each month for the previous period. In case of funding delays in the military unit, funds must be paid within three days after their arrival. The amount of payments is determined by position, rank, duration of service, and the nature of combat missions.

The basic monthly part, which does not depend on being on the frontline, includes the position salary, salary for military rank, and long-service allowance. The latter indicator ranges from 25% to 50% of the sum of salaries depending on the length of service. Additionally, allowances for special service conditions (not less than 65%), work under security restrictions, qualification class, and a monthly bonus are calculated.

Rewards for Service and Participation in Combat

For soldiers who are not directly involved in combat and do not work at command posts, an additional reward of 10,000 hryvnias is provided. It is paid proportionally to the service time to those who do not receive combat payments. This amount is not calculated during leave, but is maintained during treatment, except for treatment after combat wounds, when 100,000 hryvnias is paid.

For participation in combat, a system of additional payments based on the actual execution of tasks is in place. Military personnel on the line of contact receive 100,000 hryvnias, the command staff of headquarters receive 50,000 hryvnias, and for performing other combat or special tasks outside the immediate frontline, 30,000 hryvnias is provided.

Zonal Allowances and Daily Payments for Assaults

Since June 2026, zonal rewards have been introduced, which depend on the distance to the line of combat contact. For performing tasks at a distance up to the platoon stronghold, in the “grey” zone, in temporarily occupied territories, or in enemy territory, the additional payment is 170,000 hryvnias. For work at a distance up to the company stronghold, 70,000 hryvnias is calculated.

Separately, special payments are calculated for each day of active combat operations. Assault actions on the line of contact or deep in the enemy’s defence are valued at 40,000 hryvnias per day. For restoring positions deep in one’s own defence, military personnel receive 20,000 hryvnias per day.

Bonuses for Results and One-time Payments

The Defence Forces also have a system of individual bonuses for confirmed results. For each captured Russian military officer, 100,000 hryvnias is paid. For liquidating an occupier in close combat, a bonus of 15,000 hryvnias is provided, and the fact of destruction must be confirmed by video recording.

Upon signing the first contract, military personnel are paid a one-time aid linked to the subsistence minimum for able-bodied persons as of January 1 (3,328 hryvnias in 2026). Private personnel receive 26,624 hryvnias, sergeants — 29,952 hryvnias, and officers — 33,280 hryvnias. Also, once a year, military personnel are entitled to health recovery payments and financial assistance for solving social and living issues.
