The National Technical University of Ukraine 'Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute' has joined the BankID NBU system. The university became the first non-commercial subscriber to receive the right to use the service free of charge. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the National Bank of Ukraine.
Students, applicants, and faculty members will now be able to authorize in internal digital services using banking identification tools. The non-commercial service provider status allows the institution to avoid paying connection fees and user data processing charges.
New conditions for educational institutions
The opportunity to join the system on a free-of-charge basis emerged due to amendments to the Regulation on the BankID NBU system. These norms allowed public law educational institutions to integrate into the infrastructure without financial costs.
“Connecting KPI named after Igor Sikorsky to the BankID NBU system on non-commercial terms is the first such case among public law educational institutions,” noted Olha Vasylieva, Deputy Director of the Payment Systems and Innovative Development Department of the National Bank of Ukraine. She added that this solution was developed jointly with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to modernize digital services at universities.
Digital transformation of education
First Vice-Rector of KPI named after Igor Sikorsky Mykhailo Bezuhlyi called this cooperation an important example of integrating state innovations into university IT infrastructure. According to him, this will contribute to engaging young people in the country’s technological changes.
