Ukraine is negotiating with foreign partners on the supply of missiles for Patriot air defense systems. The state needs at least 300 PAC-2 and PAC-3 interceptors before the winter season begins.

This was reported by Glavcom citing Politico, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha stated during the United24 event on August 21 that the process of securing the Ukrainian sky with air defense equipment is complex. The diplomatic agency is currently focused on obtaining ammunition for Patriot systems, which is a priority task for the autumn.

According to the official, every piece of weaponry is obtained through intense negotiations with partner countries. The need for 300 missiles is critical for maintaining defense capabilities during the cold season, which has been officially communicated to allies.

Ukraine’s security and the European context

“This war is not about Ukraine, it is about protecting Europe with us, and our security is their security as well,” Andrii Sybiha noted. He emphasized that the supply of air defense systems directly impacts stability throughout the region.

Back in late July, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the necessity of receiving 100 missiles for Patriot complexes monthly. Previously, CNN reported that missile launchers were forced to remain idle due to a global shortage of ammunition.

Additional foreign policy priorities

In addition to securing air defense, the MFA is working on expanding energy assistance, including the transfer of generators. The ministry is also pushing for a new sanctions package against the rf, aimed at curbing ballistic threats, and is attempting to restore unhindered navigation for agricultural exports.

According to Politico, European states have independently joined the search for interceptors, given the cautious position of the US President Donald Trump administration regarding the transfer of relevant military technologies.
