As part of defense cooperation, the parties have agreed to produce equipment for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and European partners. The relevant documents were signed during a roundtable with the participation of Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Alexander Stubb.
The agreement provides for organizing the joint production of drones in Finland and developing maritime unmanned systems. There are also plans to establish an enterprise specializing in ground-based robotic systems.
Expansion of production cooperation
Executives of seven Finnish companies, including Patria, Nokia, Insta, Boomeranger, Nest AI, Sensofusion, and ICEYE, have arrived in Kyiv to discuss the project details. In addition to production plans, the countries are finalizing the Drone Deal agreement and strengthening interaction in cyber and space sectors.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that defense cooperation between the states has entered the stage of practical implementation. According to him, the expansion of the domestic military-industrial complex allows for effective work on joint defense tools.
Assessment of the partnership by state leaders
Finnish President Alexander Stubb noted that the experience of modern warfare held by the Ukrainian Defense Forces is among the best in Europe. He emphasized that the partnership is mutually beneficial in both the short term and the context of strengthening the continent’s security.
