Minister of Defence of Ukraine Yevhen Khmara met with Chief of Defence of the Norwegian Armed Forces General Eirik Kristoffersen. The parties discussed strengthening air defence, protection against Russian strikes, and preparation of the Drone Deal defence agreement. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
During the talks, the Ukrainian side outlined key requirements for airspace protection. Particular attention was paid to countering jet-powered Shahed strike drones, which pose a significant challenge to the air defence system.
The head of the defence ministry emphasised that Ukraine is developing its own tools to counter these threats, but support from partners is required for rapid scaling. The need for interceptor missiles against Russian ballistic missiles also remains critical.
Development of defence technology and asymmetric actions
The meeting participants are preparing for the signing of the Drone Deal. The partnership involves exchanging technologies and practical experience in operating unmanned systems proven in modern warfare.
“We are ready to share other Ukrainian solutions as well. They can strengthen not only Ukraine but also our partners,” Yevhen Khmara stated.
Additionally, the Defence Minister highlighted the effectiveness of recent strikes on targets inside Russia. According to him, these asymmetric actions significantly reduce the aggressor’s capacity to produce and launch missiles against Ukraine.
