The special scheme will remain active only until 20 September

Ukrainian service members have 25 days left to use a simplified procedure for returning from unauthorized absence. The special scheme allows soldiers to choose their future military unit independently. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

Relevant authorities have reminded personnel about the limited timeframe for the simplified return mechanism for service members absent without leave. The special procedure is available only until 20 September.

The simplified system applies to troops whose unauthorized absence was officially recorded on or before 12 June 2026. Over 70 different formations across the Defence Forces of Ukraine are open for transfer.

Available units and application process

Options for continuing service include mechanized, assault, and artillery brigades. Additionally, troops may join unmanned systems units, the National Guard of Ukraine, or the State Special Transport Service.

To select a specific military unit and submit an official report, personnel must access a dedicated online portal containing detailed information on all participating units.
