The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has made a final decision regarding electricity costs for the population. The base price for electricity remains at 4.32 UAH per kWh. The government has extended this tariff for households until October 31, 2026, according to the relevant government decision. This was reported by the PromPolitInform portal, citing a statement from the Ministry of Finance.
From May through the end of September, a single rate of 4.32 UAH per kWh applies to all household consumers.
Special tariffs remain in place for some households. Those who use electricity for heating save the most. For these consumers, a rate of 2.64 UAH per kWh applies, provided consumption does not exceed 2,000 kWh per month. This significantly reduces costs for private houses and apartments with electric heating.
Another way to save is the night tariff. Owners of dual-zone meters pay 2.16 UAH per kWh for electricity consumed between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM. The greatest savings are achieved by those who schedule the operation of energy-intensive appliances—such as water heaters, washing machines, and dryers—during these night hours. Price stability is guaranteed by the “special obligations” mechanism, which shields the civilian population from market price spikes. The situation differs for the commercial sector, however, as businesses already operate under full market conditions.

Throughout the country’s years of independence, electricity prices have remained more stable than gas prices.
In 1996–1997, Ukrainians paid UAH 0.08 per kilowatt, and in 1998–1999, the rate was UAH 0.10. Subsequently, from 2000 to 2005, the tariff was set at UAH 0.16 per kilowatt.
Between 2006 and 2010, the cost of a kilowatt of electricity for households was UAH 0.24.
In 2011, the price rose to UAH 0.36 per kilowatt. This rate remained in effect until 2014, when the price increased to UAH 0.42. In 2015, the cost for Ukrainians rose to UAH 0.79 per kilowatt, and in 2016, it climbed to UAH 1.29.
Since 2017, the cost of a kilowatt of electricity for households has been UAH 1.68. However, as of October 1 of this year, the price for households was set at UAH 1.44 for monthly consumption of up to 250 kWh.
