The Cabinet of Ministers has approved new rules for the operation of railway transport and stations during air raid alerts. These rules outline different courses of action depending on the threat level. This was announced on Thursday, September 17, by Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi, as reported by Zaxid.net and the PromPolitInform portal.
At a “yellow” threat level, trains will continue to run according to schedule, and passengers will be able to board and disembark. If a “red” level is declared, passenger boarding and train departures will be suspended. During this time, people will be directed to shelters.
At the same time, depending on the specific situation, Ukrzaliznytsia will be able to promptly restrict train movement and disperse rolling stock and passengers to prevent significant crowd congestion. Together with regional military administrations and territorial communities, the company is also tasked with expanding access to shelters at railway stations and stops.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police will further strengthen security at stations and provide additional support for evacuation operations.
Koretskyi also urged regions to coordinate local public transport schedules with train movements, particularly during nighttime hours. According to him, it is also necessary to accelerate the installation of mobile shelters so that passengers can quickly take cover in the event of danger.
