Restrictions cover the entire one-kilometer strip along state borders
The government introduced a special border regime in the one-kilometer strip along the border with Russia and Belarus. The rules have entered into force in accordance with a governmental resolution. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, based on data from the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
The Cabinet of Ministers adopted Resolution No. 1049 «On Amending Paragraph 2-1 of the CMU Resolution No. 1147 of July 27, 1998» on August 17, 2026. Currently, this normative legal act has already entered into force, and the relevant units have begun practical implementation of the approved provisions.
Restrictions in border areas
The new regime will operate throughout the entire period of martial law. It applies to land plots with a depth of one kilometer along the land border with Russia and Belarus.
Within the designated strip, strict prohibitions on the free movement of citizens are introduced. In particular, unauthorized entry, prolonged stay, residence, and movement of unauthorized persons are blocked.
Defense measures
The ban also covers the execution of any work unrelated to defense. The only exceptions are measures aimed at repelling armed aggression against Ukraine and protecting the state border.
All established restrictions apply to absolutely every land plot located within the specified strip. State border protection authorities are already involved in monitoring compliance with the introduced rules.
