Pension Fund Explains Who Can Simultaneously Receive Pension and Social Assistance

People with childhood disabilities are entitled to two payments simultaneously

Individuals with childhood disabilities under certain conditions have the legal right to simultaneously receive a survivor's pension and state social assistance. This was reported by Glavcom citing Pension Fund of Ukraine, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

Ukrainian legislation allows combining two types of financial support if appropriate grounds exist. The agency notes that the status of a person with a childhood disability does not cancel the possibility of processing payments in the event of a loss of a breadwinner.

The right to a survivor’s pension belongs to incapacitated family members of a deceased person. At the same time, state social assistance is regulated by a separate specialized law regarding the support of persons with childhood disabilities and children with disabilities.

Conditions of Appointment

Receiving one payment does not restrict a person from applying for another. The main condition is compliance with status requirements and the presence of necessary documents.

If the disability was officially established after reaching adulthood, but medical indicators show it occurred before the age of 18, this fact must be documented accordingly.

Application Procedure

To receive both types of payments, citizens must apply to the territorial bodies of the Pension Fund of Ukraine. Specialists of the agency verify the submitted papers and make a decision on the accrual of assistance.
