Another 1,200 units were contracted separately for the State Special Transport Service
The DOT Defence Procurement Agency has fully contracted the Armed Forces of Ukraine's annual demand for tactical headsets for 2026, totaling 40,000 units. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
Shipments of the ordered batch of protective equipment are currently underway. In addition to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the agency has already contracted 700 headsets for the State Special Transport Service, with plans to purchase an additional 500 units for the agency soon.
Procurements of tactical hearing protection gear built to North Atlantic Alliance standards were first announced in 2025. At that time, specialists developed an updated technical specification with enhanced requirements for durability, functionality, and safety parameters.
NATO Standards and Protective Capabilities
The primary purpose of active headsets is to protect soldiers’ hearing from harmful noise levels during explosions and gunfire, while preserving their ability to hear voice commands, ambient noises, and radio communications. “Tactical headsets are equipment on which a soldier’s safety directly depends during mission execution. It is not just about hearing protection, but about the ability to operate effectively in combat conditions,” noted Artem Romaniukov, acting director of the DOT Defence Procurement Agency.
According to technical specifications, the single number rating (SNR) of the equipment is at least 28 dB. The devices are certified to meet two key international military standards: the MIL-STD-810H standard for environmental durability and the MIL-STD-461G standard for electromagnetic compatibility.
Operation and Gear Compatibility
The units are engineered for reliable operation in temperatures ranging from -20 °C to +50 °C. The casing is constructed from non-flammable materials and designed to integrate seamlessly with ballistic combat helmets and other protective gear.
The interface includes power control buttons, volume adjustment controls, and a battery power-saving mode designed for field conditions.
