Washington has sent a diplomatic note to Moscow over the incident in Irkutsk Region
US President Donald Trump stated that the American side currently does not consider the plague outbreak in russia to be the result of biological weapons. At the same time, Washington is demanding additional clarifications from moscow due to the death of a research institute employee. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Валерій Ульяненко), according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The American leader commented on the situation during a conversation with media representatives, noting that the country’s authorities will soon fully investigate the circumstances of the incident. The head of the White House added that the russian side claims full control over events in the region.
Journalists asked the politician whether he sees similarities with Beijing’s behavior at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the American leader, russian state structures, much like China previously, provide a limited amount of data.
The incident in Irkutsk Region occurred after a laboratory assistant at a research institute damaged a container with the dangerous disease pathogen on September 25. Subsequently, the 28-year-old employee of the institution was hospitalized with signs of severe pneumonia and died on the night of October 2.
The events surrounding the tragedy caused concern in the international community due to the possible concealment of information by the russian leadership. In this regard, the United States handed over a diplomatic note to the russian side to obtain comprehensive details.
It is expected that the leaders of both states will hold a telephone conversation in the near future. The main topic of the upcoming dialogue is set to be the probable epidemiological incident on the territory of russia.
