Net hryvnia loans to individuals grew by 38% over the year
In September, Ukrainian banks showed growth in the volume of net lending to businesses and the population. Hryvnia loans for companies increased by 32%, and for citizens by 38% year-on-year. This was reported by Delo.ua citing the National Bank of Ukraine, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
In the financial sector, there is a steady trend towards expanding credit support for the economy. The regulator emphasizes the importance of using net credit indicators for a correct assessment of the activity of financial institutions, as the gross portfolio is affected by the consequences of the large-scale write-off of non-performing loans by state-owned banks that took place in December 2025.
Dynamics of banking indicators
This technical statistical factor continues to affect the overall annual indicators throughout the current year, but it does not reflect a real decrease in credit activity. On the contrary, financial institutions demonstrate a stable increase in investment in the real economy and consumer lending.
Parallel to borrowing, there is an increase in the deposit base in the banking system. The level of hryvnia funds in business accounts showed a 21% increase year-on-year. Owners of private accounts also increased the volume of funds in their deposits by 17%.
Data refinement
The results presented are operational and based on interim reports of financial institutions. Regulator experts note that the final figures may be adjusted after the collection and processing of full monthly reporting from all market participants.
The current figures effectively confirm the growth rates that were recorded in August. At that time, the growth of net business lending reached 33%, and for individuals — 38%, which indicates the maintenance of high demand for financial resources in the country.
