Automatic Extension of Mobilisation Deferments Runs Until 30 October: Rules and Categories

In the Reserve+ app, automatic deferment renewal is open to 22 citizen categories

Ukraine has launched a regular wave of automatic deferment extensions from military mobilisation, running through 30 October. Estimates indicate that over 90% of active deferments could be extended without personal visits to state offices or filing repeated applications. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

Verification of deferment eligibility is conducted under standardised rules by cross-referencing information against state electronic registries. If the legal grounds remain valid and are confirmed by the databases, the process proceeds without requiring action from the citizen.

Notifications regarding the outcome will appear in the Reserve+ application gradually. Users will receive alerts both when the deferment is successfully updated and when the system is unable to complete the procedure automatically.

Status Verification and Validity Periods in Reserve+

Once the notification arrives, citizens must refresh their electronic military registration document in the app using the corresponding action in the menu. The exact expiration date can then be verified within the extended document details.

The phrase «until completion of mobilisation» on the electronic document signifies that the deferment remains valid until the end of the current mobilisation term. Should the state extend the mobilisation period while eligibility persists, deferments for designated groups will also be eligible for automatic renewal for the subsequent period.

This automated flow operates regardless of where the deferment was initially registered, whether via the digital service or at an administrative service centre. The mobile client does not grant deferments independently; it merely displays up-to-date data pulled from the state registry.

Eligible Groups and Submitting New Applications

Automated extension is available to 22 categories of citizens. These include individuals with disabilities, those temporarily unfit for duty, parents of three or more children, single parents, students, postgraduates, lecturers and scientists, caregivers for ill family members, as well as relatives of fallen or missing service members and released prisoners of war.

The system maintains a clear distinction between extending existing deferments and applying for a new one. Currently, submitting an initial digital request via Reserve+ is enabled for 12 specified categories, including students, multi-child parents, and secondary school teachers.

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine plans to expand the roster of available online services incrementally as inter-agency registry connectivity and automated data exchanges develop.

Steps When Automated Extension Fails

Receiving an alert that automated extension was unsuccessful generally indicates missing or outdated entries across state databases rather than a loss of underlying rights. The individual’s legal eligibility for deferment may remain fully intact.

In such circumstances, individuals should verify and update their records in the relevant registries, subsequently filing a new request via Reserve+ or presenting physical paperwork at any administrative service centre. Visiting territorial recruitment and social support centres is unnecessary, and the current deferment stays valid until its original expiration date.
