A hostile drone strike on the railway facility resulted in the deaths of 15 civilians
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has strongly condemned the Russian attack on a railway station in Dnipro, which resulted in 15 fatalities. The tragedy occurred when a Russian jet-powered drone struck a passenger platform at the station. This was reported by Ukrinform, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
UN Spokesman Stephane Dujarric confirmed the stance of Antonio Guterres, labelling the repeated shelling of civilian infrastructure a violation of international humanitarian law. The statement underscores that systematic attacks on Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, and Zaporizhzhia, are part of a broader pattern.
Details of the civilian casualties in Dnipro
The Russian strike was carried out on October 29 using a jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicle. At the time of the attack, train No. 866, operating on the Dnipro-Zaporizhzhia route, was at the station. As a result of the impact on one of the platforms, 15 people were killed, including children.
Subsequent attacks and the humanitarian situation
On the following day, October 30, the Russian military again shelled the railway station in the regional center, leaving one woman wounded. Commenting on the broader situation in the conflict zone, Stephane Dujarric also noted that the UN supports the provision of humanitarian aid to individuals evacuating from Oleshky and returning to Ukrainian-controlled territory, though the organization is not directly involved in the evacuation operations themselves.
