The evacuation from occupied Oleshky concluded with residents crossing the border in Chernihiv region
Residents of Oleshky in Kherson region who needed evacuation were removed from the temporarily occupied territory during a humanitarian operation. As of now, Ukrainian citizens have already crossed the state border in Chernihiv region. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
As part of the humanitarian mission in the Kherson direction, a ceasefire was established, after which sappers cleared the roads leading to Oleshky of mines. In addition to evacuating civilians, humanitarian cargo was delivered to the settlement. The Ukrainian authorities expect humanitarian access to Oleshky to remain available.
Support for Evacuated Citizens
Government structures, together with all involved regional and local authorities, must work effectively to help the rescued people adapt. Necessary assistance will be provided to all Ukrainian citizens arriving from Oleshky.
Participants and Mediators of the Mission
Secure conditions for the humanitarian operation were successfully guaranteed with honor by the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Special gratitude for mediation efforts was expressed to the American side and First Lady of the United States Melania Trump.
Coordination and Global Attention
The mission was successfully implemented by Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets and his team. Global attention from journalists, political and public leaders, and concerned individuals worldwide regarding the humanitarian catastrophe in Russian-occupied Oleshky proved that international visibility saves lives.
