510 people were killed across 1,256 verified explosive hazard incidents
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, 1,757 people in Ukraine have been wounded or killed by explosive hazards. During this period, 1,256 incidents involving landmines and explosive remnants of war have been officially confirmed. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
Explosions of hazardous objects claimed the lives of 510 citizens, while another 1,247 people sustained injuries of varying severity. The victims include farmers, drivers, demining personnel, critical infrastructure employees, schoolchildren, pensioners, and unemployed individuals.
Minors represent a particularly vulnerable group among the victims. Over the course of the full-scale armed aggression, landmines have killed 25 boys and one girl, injuring an additional 125 boys and 20 girls.
International Standards and Interactive Tracking
To address the consequences of detonations, the international IMAS 13.10 standard is being actively implemented. This protocol governs access to medical, rehabilitation, psychological, educational, and financial assistance, as well as the reintegration of landmine survivors into socio-economic life.
The Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety systematically monitors and registers blast incidents. Based on these records, the secretariat of the National Mine Action Authority maintains a specialised interactive incident map.
Referral System and Donor Funding
A referral mechanism operates within the framework to direct victims to relevant humanitarian organisations. With the victim’s written consent, personal information is shared with verified charitable bodies capable of meeting their needs.
International organisations cover expenses related to healthcare and rehabilitation courses, as well as equipment for remote employment and education tailored for individuals with blast injuries.
Since 2023, 185 survivors have received support through this referral pipeline. The estimated total value of the medical care, logistics, training, and job placement services provided stands at nearly UAH 3.4 million.
