Ukrainian strikes knock out 10% of Russian oil refining capacity in three days

Three oil refineries with a total capacity of 33 million tons per year were hit

Over the course of three days, Ukrainian forces attacked three major Russian oil refineries. The operations led to the shutdown of facilities that accounted for approximately 10% of Russia's total oil refining capacity. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Марія Науменко) citing the Telegram channel of Dnipro Osint, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

The targeted facilities include the Kstovo and Novokuibyshevsk refineries, as well as the Bashneft-Novoil production complex. The combined annual processing volume of this oil infrastructure is estimated at 33 million tons of raw material.

Analysts indicate that the strikes are systematic in nature. The strike assets hit not only primary oil refining equipment but also secondary processing units, which significantly complicates the restoration of plant operations.

Scale of infrastructure damage

Such actions effectively ended a period of relative calm. Previously, for two weeks, the Ukrainian side had refrained from raids on the Russian oil sector following requests from the US administration.

At the same time, the Russian side continued to use missiles and Geran drones against Ukrainian cities. The consequences of such shelling remain the destruction of civilian energy infrastructure and the loss of civilian lives.

Details of refinery hits

The series of strikes began on the night of October 30, when drones hit the Novokuibyshevsk refinery in the Samara region, which is part of the Rosneft group. The plant, with a capacity of 8.8 million tons per year, specializes in producing fuel for Russian military aviation needs.

On the night of October 31, drones attacked Ufa, where the Bashneft-Novoil plant is located. The capacity of this facility is approximately 7 million tons of oil per year.

Another raid took place on November 1 against the Kstovo refinery in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This facility is among the largest in Russia, with a design capacity of 17 million tons of oil per year.
