Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko stated that 1,676 high-rise residential buildings in the capital are currently without heating following a Russian attack on Kyiv on January 24. According to Hromadske.ua, the official announced this on social media, as reported by the PromPolitInform portal.
He recalled that due to damage to critical infrastructure, nearly 6,000 buildings in Kyiv were left without heat supply the previous day. Most of them had already been reconnected — or attempts had been made to reconnect them — after shelling on January 9 and January 20, Klitschko added.
The mayor also noted that since last evening, municipal services and energy workers have restored heat supply to more than 1,600 buildings.
“They continue working to return heating services to Kyiv residents’ homes,” Klitschko said.
As a reminder, on the night of January 24, Russian occupying forces carried out a combined attack on Ukraine, using missiles of various types launched from air and ground platforms, as well as attack UAVs. In total, Ukraine’s Air Force radio-technical troops detected 396 aerial attack assets.
According to the Air Force, the main direction of the strike was the Kyiv region. A key feature of the attack was the use of strategic aviation aircraft armed with Kh-22/Kh-32 missiles targeting the Ukrainian capital.
Kyiv and the surrounding region, as well as the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions, came under enemy fire. In Kyiv, one person was reported killed as a result of the overnight Russian missile and drone attack.
