A conversation took place between the Minister of Defense of Ukraine and the Minister of Defense of Sweden, during which they discussed a package of assistance for Ukraine that is expected to become one of the largest.
During the talks, Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov and Sweden’s Minister of Defense Pål Jonson discussed the formation of one of the largest security assistance packages for Ukraine. According to Vechirniy Kyiv, the information was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and conveyed by the PromPolitInform portal.
It is reported that the Swedish side is preparing a large-scale aid package, which will include air defense systems and radars produced by Saab, as well as contributions to Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex — additional electronic warfare systems and drones, including deep strike capabilities.
The head of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense thanked Sweden for its consistent support and new investments in Ukraine’s defense. The parties also focused on several key areas of cooperation.
Strengthening air defense and countering ballistic threats: Ukraine and Sweden are working on additional contributions to the PURL initiative to provide Ukrainian forces with critically important weapons, including systems to counter ballistic missiles.
Partnership in defense innovation: the Brave1 cluster is discussing the launch of a joint Brave–Sweden program. In a co-financing format, the program will make it possible to attract grant funding for defense companies and test innovative solutions directly on the front line.
Launching joint production in the defense tech sector: in parallel, the sides are working to accelerate the establishment of joint production of Ukrainian security solutions on Swedish territory.
In addition, the parties specifically discussed the aviation component — in particular, the possibility of supplying Gripen aircraft and transferring Meteor missiles, which are key tools for countering aircraft carrying guided aerial bombs.
