Russia demands international recognition of Donbass as its own – Zelensky commented after a briefing with Tusk. The main theses of the speech

Zelensky commented on the information of the Russian media that Russia requires countries to recognize the Donbass as their own. The basis of the President’s thesis from the briefing with Tusk.

The President said: he does not know who is spreading signals about the possible end of the war in exchange for the recognition of the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories as Russian. According to him, such scenarios have no prospects.

The President said this at a joint press conference with Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk, informs the portal PromPolitInform.

“First, everyone will not, as my Polish colleague said. And, secondly, Ukraine has a president who signs documents, thank God. And not other leaders sign important documents for Ukraine. Therefore, our territories are ours,” the president said.

The president also said that Ukraine is interested in receiving MiG fighters, which are necessary for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and is ready for an exchange – the Ukrainian side handed over to Poland a list of drones that it can offer in return.

The priority now remains the passage of winter and the strengthening of air defense, in particular the receipt of missiles to protect energy infrastructure. The President added that due to delays in the supply of assistance from individual partners, Ukraine is looking for opportunities to accelerate the receipt of the necessary weapons, including through mutually beneficial exchanges.

Other theses of the president

First, we must sign security guarantees – create a de-escalation atmosphere and strengthen Ukraine.

The President said that Kyiv was ready for a ceasefire from the very beginning, but Russia must agree to this. All the terms of the ceasefire, he said, are set out in a 20-point plan.

The Head of State stressed that the key for Ukraine is to provide security guarantees, primarily from the United States. They, in his opinion, should become the basis for further agreements and minimize the future aggression of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, Ukraine will form its own security guarantees by maintaining a strong army of about 800,000 troops and a gradual transition to contract service. This requires the financial support of European partners, because the Ukrainian army is part of the security of Europe.

Ukraine and Poland will jointly produce defense materials

The letter of intent was signed by President Vladimir Zelensky and Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The document is not only a declaration of intentions, but the beginning of practical cooperation.

“That’s been our goal for many, many months. We talked about this and made a lot of efforts to make the idea of joint production at enterprises both in Poland and in Ukraine of weapons a reality.” Tusk said.

Other theses Tusk

Poland is preparing the 48th package of assistance for Ukraine for 200 million zlotys. The package will focus on armored vehicles for the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

If Ukraine needs MiGs, then Poland is ready to transfer them. We talked about the exchange of Ukrainian drones.

He confirmed that Poland has MіG-29 fighters at its disposal and is ready to transfer them to Ukraine if necessary. Poland and Ukraine agreed to work flexibly and adjust their positions in accordance with the current needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Polish prime minister also noted that Ukraine needs to strengthen air defense, in particular missiles, but not in all areas Poland can help.

Tusk also said that after returning to Poland, he would discuss with the Minister of Defense the possibility of transferring alternative equipment instead of MiGs.

Ukraine and Poland agreed to use SAFE funds to jointly strengthen defense capabilities and develop the economy.

The Polish Prime Minister stressed that part of the funding can be directed to the joint production of technologies and defense products in Ukraine and Poland.

According to him, Ukraine today is an important partner for any state that seeks to modernize defense, in particular through the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence. The SAFE program opens up the opportunity to implement projects where Ukraine and Poland can offer the best solutions.

The President added that the first results of cooperation are already available and the preparation of the first joint report on achievements is expected.
