There are currently over 33 million voters in Ukraine, according to the Central Election Commission

Among them, 1.4 million people do not have a voting address.

The State Voter Registry currently lists nearly 33.2 million people. This was announced by Serhiy Dubovik, First Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission, during a meeting of the working group preparing legislative proposals on the specifics of holding elections during a special period. UNIAN reports this, as reported by the PromPolitInform portal.

“We currently have 33,167,345 voters. Of these, 1,457,770 do not have a voting address, that is, an actual place of residence,” Dubovik said.

He noted that there are difficulties registering voters in the temporarily occupied territories. This particularly concerns mortality rates.

“One interesting figure is that 42,000 voters in the occupied territories are over 100 years old. And of the more than 1,000 voters, 115 are over 100 years old. We have no information about their mortality rates,” Dubovik added. He also commented on the possibility of internally displaced persons (IDPs) participating in the vote. According to Dubovik, they need to contact the Central Election Commission and change their voting address, not their voting location.

“We have fully agreed on this point at the working subgroup. All that remains is for us to establish an information exchange protocol with the Ministry of Digital Development and to ensure voters are informed about the electoral process,” Dubovik noted.

Earlier, Financial Times journalists reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could announce the election date as early as February 24. According to the publication, the elections themselves, including a referendum, could take place as early as May.

However, Zelenskyy denied media reports that he intends to announce the elections on February 24. He stated that the transition to elections could occur when “all the appropriate security guarantees are in place.”

“I’ve always said that the issue of elections is raised by various partners of Ukraine. Ukraine itself has never raised it, but we are certainly ready for elections; I said it would be very simple.” “Implement a ceasefire (UNIAN) and there will be elections,” the head of state said.

The Central Election Commission also commented on rumors of presidential elections and a referendum after February 24. As Sergei Dubovik noted, electoral processes are only possible after martial law is lifted or ended, and the Central Election Commission has not received any new documents on organizing and conducting post-war voting.
