The European Union has not demanded that Ukraine repair the Druzhba oil pipeline for the supply of Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia. This was stated at a briefing by European Commission spokesperson Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, according to RBC-Ukraine, according to the PromPolitInform portal.
She noted that the European Commission is in contact with the authorities of Ukraine, Slovakia, and Hungary to obtain clarity on the timing of the pipeline repairs.
“We are not pushing, pressuring, or setting any deadlines for Ukraine,” Itkonen said.
The EC representative noted that Russia has strategically and systematically destroyed Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. At the same time, Ukraine, with the help of the European Union, is making extraordinary efforts to provide hospitals and homes with heat and to enable industry to continue operating. As Sky News previously reported, the European Union is pressuring Ukraine regarding repairs to the Druzhba oil pipeline. According to the publication, the EU wanted Ukrainian officials to provide them with a deadline for pipeline repairs.
