A new secure communications tool will represent a breakthrough in military integration and may appear as early as this year.
Ukraine and NATO are preparing to create a secret information exchange system that will enable the transfer of critical data in a classified manner. This was announced by Valeriy Vishnevsky, Ukraine’s senior representative at the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training, and Education Center (JATEC), in an interview with Ukrinform, reports Comments.ua. PromPolitInform reports.
According to him, the creation of such a mechanism will be a key element of cooperation between Ukraine and the North Atlantic Alliance. While a full-fledged system for exchanging classified information between the two sides does not yet exist, a test project is planned to be launched soon. It will allow the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to quickly exchange data with NATO structures. The first elements of the new system are expected to be operational by the end of 2026. This will enable the instant exchange of intelligence, coordination of actions, and increased interoperability between Ukrainian forces and their allies.
JATEC emphasizes that Ukraine is following the same integration path previously taken by new Alliance members, in particular Sweden and Finland. This involves adapting procedures, communications systems, and security standards to NATO requirements.
The JATEC Joint Center, opened in 2025 in Bydgoszcz, Poland, became the first partnership institution of this level within the Alliance. Its creation is already playing a significant role in coordinating defense reforms and war analysis. The launch of a secret information exchange system could be a strategic step that will accelerate Ukraine’s military integration with NATO and strengthen its defense capabilities.
