From February 25, a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers came into force, regulating the procedure for making additional payments.
Some Ukrainians living in mountainous areas will be able to count on additional payments to pensions and other types of social support. The relevant changes are provided for by a government resolution, which came into effect on February 25, 2026. Dengi.ua reports this with reference to the clarification of Noviny.LIVE. Who can count on additional payments
It is noted that in 2026, residents of mountainous areas will receive a 20% additional payment to a number of state payments. Internally displaced persons who have moved to such regions are also entitled to it.
It is reported that additional funds are credited to:
pensions;
scholarships from the state budget;
payments to orphans, foster families and family-type orphanages;
assistance to persons with disabilities since childhood, children with disabilities and low-income families;
temporary assistance to children in cases where parents evade paying alimony or their whereabouts are unknown;
payments to people who are not entitled to a pension, persons with disabilities, as well as care allowances, in particular for those who care for people with mental disorders;
state support for families with children – in connection with pregnancy and childbirth, in the event of the birth of a child, for guardians and single mothers, in the event of adoption, as well as for children with serious illnesses or conditions.
Procedure for registration and grounds for cancellation
As the publication writes, to assign an allowance, it is necessary to contact the Pension Fund of Ukraine. Citizens who:
are not abroad;
have lived or worked in a mountainous area for at least six consecutive months;
do not pay a single social contribution in another locality (in the case of actual residence in the mountains).
In this case, the payment may be terminated if a person does not live and work in a mountain locality for more than six months or is abroad for more than 60 consecutive days without good reason.
In addition, the right to a supplement is lost if a pension is received in a locality without mountain status or the single social contribution is paid in another locality.
