Ukraine offers Western allies and Middle Eastern countries its unique experience and technologies for combating kamikaze drones in response to a critical shortage of air defense equipment. Against the backdrop of large-scale attacks in the Persian Gulf, Kyiv is ready to expand the export of domestic defense systems to replenish stocks of scarce missiles. As reported by True.ua, Bloomberg reports this with reference to statements by President Volodymyr Zelensky, data from analysts and its own sources. The PromPolitInform portal informs.
Global missile shortage
As the publication notes, the world has faced an acute shortage of interceptors for Patriot systems due to intense hostilities in Ukraine and the Middle East. According to the analysis, more than 1,000 PAC-3 missiles have been used in the Persian Gulf area recently to shoot down relatively cheap drones, which is depleting world arsenals.
Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is ready to share its experience in protecting against Iranian Shahed missiles in exchange for a stable supply of missiles. Currently, the priority for Kyiv is ammunition for existing systems, since obtaining new launchers remains a distant prospect.
The queue for Ukrainian drones
One of the leading Ukrainian manufacturers of UAVs, Skyfall, has already received numerous requests from Middle Eastern countries. The manufacturer has announced its readiness to immediately ship from five to 10 thousand units of equipment as soon as the government grants official permission for export.
Today, the Ukrainian air defense system is the most multi-level in the world: it combines electronic warfare (EW) means, mobile fire groups and domestic interceptors. The United States and other allies are already studying maps of the possible deployment of Ukrainian experience at bases in Europe, Japan and South Korea.
Arms exports as a strategic step
Zelensky has repeatedly raised the issue of controlled arms exports. This will allow to fill the budget and strengthen Ukraine’s position as a key player in the defense technology market, without undermining its own defense capability.
However, Bloomberg analysts warn: the benefits from the sale of technologies may be offset by fierce competition for American missiles, which Ukraine is not yet able to produce independently in the required volumes.
Recall, earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Kremlin is counting on a protracted conflict in the Middle East, hoping for a weakening of world pressure and the lifting of energy sanctions. The main goal of the aggressor is to divert the attention of the international community from the war in Ukraine and obtain additional resources due to the instability of energy prices.
