U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said military aid to Ukraine had depleted U.S. stockpiles.
The head of the Pentagon said this during a briefing on Thursday, March 19, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
Hegseth also blamed previous US President Joe Biden.
We still face the consequences of what Joe Biden created – namely, the depletion of our stocks and sending them not to our own military, but to Ukraine. Every time we look back and see any problem, we have the same answer: “Well, it was sent to Ukraine,”” said Hegseth.
Gegset noted that now the United States is reviewing approaches to the use of military resources.
“In the end, we believe that at the moment this ammunition is better spent in our own interests,” the head of the Pentagon added.
He also stressed that the new financing bill should ensure proper replenishment of stocks and strengthen the US defense capability.
On March 4, US President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that the United States has an almost unlimited supply of weapons with which it can “fight forever.” At the same time, Trump noted that the amount of ammunition still does not meet his expectations.
As reported, the Pentagon has already asked the White House to agree on a request to Congress for more than $200 billion to finance the war against Iran, which indicates the scale of needs and rising costs.
