The level of support for US President Donald Trump has fallen to one of the lowest levels in his entire political career. This is evidenced by the results of a new poll conducted by YouGov on behalf of The Economist. According to the PromPolitInform portal, this is written by Comments.ua.
According to a study conducted between March 13 and 16, only 37% of Americans approve of Trump’s work as president, while 56% expressed dissatisfaction with his activities. Thus, Trump’s net approval rating is minus 18 percentage points.
One of the reasons for the decline in Trump’s popularity is the US military operation against Iran. According to the poll, only 36% of Americans positively assess the actions of the US president in this conflict, while 56% do not support such a policy. Another 9% of those surveyed could not decide on their position. Despite this, Donald Trump himself publicly rejected the value of such polls.
“I think the polls are very good, but I don’t care about the polls. I have to do the right thing. It should have been done a long time ago,” Trump said in response to the low level of support among Americans for a war with Iran.
An additional factor of pressure on the White House administration remains the economic situation. Trump’s net approval rating for economic policy has fallen to minus 29. This is the worst indicator for the entire period of his presidency, even lower than during the coronavirus pandemic.
Americans are especially critical of the actions of the current government regarding the cost of living. According to the survey, 67% of respondents do not approve of the US president’s policy in this area, while 26% expressed support.
