On the morning of March 23, a double terrorist attack took place in Bucha, in the Kyiv region. The 21-year-old suspect in the bombing was promptly detained by police. He was prompted to commit the crime by an unknown person from a computer game. This was reported by Channel 24, the PromPolitInform portal reports.
There could also have been monetary motivation. The details of the investigation were told by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
How was the perpetrator of the terrorist attack recruited?
As the detainee himself said, he met the unknown person through a computer game. NV sources suggest that it was probably about World of Tanks.
After some time, the acquaintance began to blackmail the 21-year-old young man, claiming that he was following his mother with the help of a drone. The young man was required to plant explosives – then his mother would remain alive.
“You either do what we tell you, or something will happen to your mother,”
– the suspect said.
In addition, it was noted that the perpetrator was to receive 25 thousand hryvnias for each of the “successful” explosions – in total, we are talking about 50 thousand for the case. The suspect himself denies this information.
What is known about the explosion?
The Russian special services gave the person involved in the case instructions on how to make two homemade explosive devices. To detonate them remotely, he equipped each of them with a mobile phone.
After that, he placed the explosives at the site of the future terrorist attack: he hid one device under a bench at the entrance to the entrance of a residential building, the other next to a garbage can.
It should be noted that two law enforcement officers were injured as a result of the incident. At the moment, their lives are not in danger. The investigation is ongoing.
Where else have similar incidents occurred?
Recently, similar terrorist attacks and attempts to carry them out have been recorded in Lviv, Kyiv, Dnipro, Mykolaiv and Odessa. All these crimes have common features, namely the use of improvised explosive devices, their remote activation, coordination via messengers and the involvement of perpetrators through recruitment.
And in Chernihiv, the day before, a small object exploded in one of the ATB supermarkets, which pierced the roof of the building. Four people were injured.
