“No to Kings”. The third wave of protests against Trump took place in the USA: actions were held in all 50 states

Participants of the No Kings movement, who held actions in all states, spoke out, among other things, against the war in Iran

On Saturday, March 28, the third wave of large-scale protests under the slogan No Kings (“No to Kings”) took place in the USA. The rallies were held in all 50 states, and hundreds of thousands of people took part in them. In total, the organizers planned more than 3,200 actions across the country. This, writes Informator, reports Reuters. The PromPolitInform portal informs.

According to the publication, the protesters chanted pro-democracy slogans and criticized the foreign policy of President Donald Trump. The organizers linked the wave of rallies to the US military operation in Iran, which the United States launched together with Israel on February 28.

Protests were held in New York, Washington, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and other cities, among others. However, the largest number of people gathered at rallies outside major cities. In New York, a crowd that police estimated numbered in the tens of thousands stretched over 10 city blocks in midtown Manhattan.

The rally in midtown Manhattan was organized by actor Robert De Niro, who addressed the protesters.

“There have been other presidents who have tested the constitutional limits of their power, but none have posed such an existential threat to our freedoms and security,” he told the crowd before addressing the crowd.

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, a Trump critic who ran for the Democratic nomination in 2016 and 2020, spoke at an event in Minnesota.

“We will not allow this country to slide into authoritarianism or oligarchy in America. We, the people, will rule,” Sanders said.

The “No Kings” movement first took place on June 14, 2025, the 250th anniversary of the American army, which coincided with Trump’s birthday and a military parade. At that time, protesters compared the president’s actions to the behavior of a monarch. The second wave of protests occurred against the backdrop of the US government shutdown due to the lack of agreed funding. This happened in October 2025.

Trump’s approval rating is falling

On March 19, the results of a YouGov poll commissioned by The Economist magazine were released, which recorded a historic drop in Trump’s approval rating. 37% of respondents supported his work, while 56% expressed disapproval.

Sociologists also studied Americans’ attitudes towards possible military action in Cuba. 23% of respondents said they would support a forceful change of government, while 53% opposed it. The level of approval of Trump’s economic policy reached a minimum (minus 29%).

Another poll, referred to by The Hill, showed that about 44% of respondents completely or rather approve of the president’s actions, which is less than last March.

As the Informer wrote, The New York Times reported that it was Trump’s position that stood in the way of a potential peaceful settlement with the Russian Federation, for which Putin was allegedly ready.
