The US National Aerospace Agency (NASA) has launched a manned mission to the moon for the first time since 1972, Artemis II. As Apostrophe reports, CNN reports. PromPolitInform portal informs.
The mission members are astronauts Reed Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch of NASA and Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency.
They set off for the moon from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
NASA’s Space Launch System is the most powerful launch vehicle for reaching orbit or delivering a crew. Although it is not the most powerful launch vehicle ever built (this title belongs to SpaceX’s Starship), it surpasses the capabilities of anything NASA has created before.
The Artemis II mission aims to orbit the Moon before returning to Earth in 10 days.
NASA officials define deep space as space beyond low-Earth orbit, meaning Artemis II’s flight around the Moon is considered a deep space mission.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine and the United Kingdom have formally committed to strengthening their partnership in the space industry by signing a memorandum of understanding.
