Iran, through Pakistan, passed a secret 10-point peace proposal to the United States, which provides conditions for a possible end to the war.
This writes The New York Times, citing sources, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
According to the publication, one of Tehran’s key demands is guarantees that the country will no longer be subjected to new attacks.
Also among the conditions is the cessation of Israeli strikes on targets associated with Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the lifting of all sanctions.
Instead, Iran, according to the interlocutors of the NYT, is ready to end the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and use it as a source of funds for the restoration of the country.
In particular, Tehran proposes to introduce a fee of about $2 million for the passage of each vessel through the Strait, sharing these revenues with Oman.
The publication notes that Pakistan is a key mediator in contacts between the United States, Israel and Iran.
Against this background, according to Politico, US Vice President JD Vance is ready to join the negotiation process if informal consultations go into the format of a direct meeting with the Iranian side.
At the same time, according to media reports, Donald Trump’s special representative Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are currently coordinating the negotiations.
Earlier media also reported that the United States and Iran are discussing the possibility of a 45-day ceasefire as a potential step towards ending the conflict, and the United States is reviewing the list of targets in Iran to avoid accusations of war crimes.
