Belgium and Norway delay delivery of half of F-16 fighters promised to Ukraine

Belgium and Norway have not yet handed over a single aircraft due to the technical re-equipment of their own forces and a critical shortage of spare parts. This, UA.NEWS reports, is stated in the Defense Express material. The PromPolitInform portal reports.

In particular, Brussels depends on the pace of receiving new F-35s, which postpones the transfer of 30 aircraft to the Russian Federation and partners until 2028. The Norwegian fighters are currently undergoing repairs in Belgium, where each aircraft requires about 100 missing components. Of the total number of 79 promised aircraft, Ukraine has so far received only 36 units from the Netherlands and Denmark. The limited production capacity of European repair companies is preventing the rapid reinforcement of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The situation is complicated by the need to carry out major maintenance of most of the machines before their combat use.

Poland has not yet transferred MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. The dialogue between the parties on this issue is ongoing.
