The bodies of 528 dead, who, according to the Russian side, may belong to Ukrainian servicemen, have been returned to Ukraine. This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, writes Rubryka. The PromPolitInform portal informs.

Law enforcement investigators and representatives of expert institutions will take all necessary measures to identify the repatriated dead.

The previous repatriation took place on April 9, when 1,000 bodies (remains) were returned to Ukraine, which, according to the Russian side, belong to Ukrainian servicemen.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs previously explained that the process of identifying the bodies could take a long time. They noted that Russia transfers several bodies in one package, and sometimes experts find the remains of one person in different packages or even during different stages of repatriation.

Ukrainian experts must conduct a DNA examination of each body or remains. There have already been cases when Russia wanted to transfer the bodies of its citizens together with the dead Ukrainian military during the exchange.
