Tax on OLX. The Rada adopted a law on digital platforms and how it will affect the incomes of Ukrainians

Today, the Rada adopted a law on digital platforms (15111-d), commonly known as the “OLX tax”.

RBC-Ukraine asked the initiators of the document, People’s Deputies Danylo Getmantsev and Yaroslav Zheleznyak, about what the adopted law changes. This is reported by the PromPolitInform portal.

The main innovation is that the law really introduces a new tax: 10% of an individual’s income on a digital platform.

“Instead of 23% of taxes (which Ukrainians should pay independently now – ed.), now you will have to pay 10% without the social security contribution. This is 5% – military duty, and 5% – personal income tax. And this will happen automatically,” Zheleznyak explained.

Who does this apply to? Only citizens who receive income from activities on digital platforms. For example, taxi drivers, couriers, bloggers, etc., emphasizes Getmantsev.

That is, this does not affect a Netflix subscription or a purchase on Temu.

Will there be a tax on each sale on OLX? In short, no. According to Getmantsev, the law has established a clear restriction: if you sell goods for less than 2,000 euros per year, the income is not taxed.

How will it work? For example, you receive income from your YouTube channel, and the platform will automatically deduct this 10% tax from it.

“You won’t have to pay anything yourself,” Zheleznyak said in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.

Recall that the adoption of this law was one of the IMF’s requirements.

As reported, on June 8, Ukraine received the seventh tranche from the EU in the amount of 2.8 billion euros under the Ukraine Facility program. The funds will be directed to priority state budget expenditures, in particular the social and humanitarian sectors.
