In Moscow, the ambassadors of Great Britain, France and Germany conveyed to the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin the conditions for a peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine, agreed upon by the leaders of the European troika. During the meeting, European diplomats condemned the recent escalation by Russia, as well as the intensification of disinformation campaigns against the backdrop of aggression against Ukraine.
In response to the position of the Russian side, the ambassadors outlined the main provisions of the joint statement of the leaders of the E3 countries of June 7.
In addition, the diplomats supported President Volodymyr Zelensky’s call for direct talks between Ukraine and Russia with the participation of the United States and European partners. The goal of such talks should be to achieve a ceasefire and further progress towards a peaceful settlement.
On June 11, the ambassadors of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom arrived at the Russian Foreign Ministry around noon. The meeting was initiated by the Russian side.
The European Commission’s Chief Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Anita Hipper, reported that the EU is holding talks with Russian representatives at various levels. Hipper emphasized that both the European Union and Kyiv want peace.
After the summit in London on June 7, the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Ukraine adopted a joint statement in which they identified five conditions for peace.
At the same time, they condemned large-scale Russian missile and drone attacks, including the use of Oreshnik missiles, as well as incidents of violations of NATO airspace by Russian drones.
Bloomberg reported that Germany, France and the United Kingdom, together with Kiev, are developing plans to involve Russia in negotiations to end the war.
