What does opening new markets mean

Expanding access to foreign markets covers not only raw materials, but increasingly finished goods and value-added products. This dynamics is consistent with the Export Strategy of Ukraine until 2030, which envisages a gradual transition from exporting mainly raw materials to increasing the share of competitive products with high added value.

Expanding markets creates opportunities for domestic producers to increase the export value of products, invest in processing and standardization, and find new partners outside traditional areas. At the same time, exporters will need to adapt to importers’ requirements for phytosanitary and veterinary standards, packaging, labeling, and logistics.

The new geography of exports covers both markets with high technical requirements and countries with demand for mass-consumption agricultural products, which opens up wide opportunities for diversification and increasing the share of value-added products in Ukraine’s total exports.
