“One of the largest aid packages announced” – Fedorov on the results of “Ramstein”

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, at a final press conference after the meeting of the Ukrainian Contact Group on Defense Issues (the so-called “Ramstein” format) at NATO headquarters, called the results of the allies’ work successful. Radio Liberty reports this, the PromPolitInform portal reports.

“Today, one of the largest aid packages (within the PURL program) was announced. It is one billion dollars… Also today, an aid package was announced. That is, for long-range artillery over 30 plus kilometers. We are still summing up, but we already see that it will be approximately half a billion dollars,” the Ukrainian minister noted.

According to Fedorov, “everyone understands that if we continue to show a positive trend and achieve results, and we say that these are windows of opportunity, then we need to believe and do everything possible to take advantage of this window of opportunity now.”

Separately, the Ukrainian Defense Minister noted the document on the exchange of data on the anti-ballistic program, signed with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius. Fedorov said that this is “the process that will help us, together with our partners, create anti-ballistics.”

Opening the Ramstein meeting on June 18, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the need to strengthen Ukraine’s defense against ballistics before winter arrives, and also stressed the importance of immediate purchases of weapons from the United States within the framework of the PURL initiative.

PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) is an international defense program under which allied countries purchase weapons and ammunition from the United States for Ukraine’s urgent needs.

Among other things, through the PURL system, Ukraine receives about 75% of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems (primarily PAC-2 and PAC-3) and almost 90% of missiles for other air defense systems.
