The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has codified and authorized the new Dovbush T40 unmanned aerial system for operational use. The Ukrainian-manufactured strategic drone is capable of covering distances exceeding 2,000 kilometres and remaining airborne for over 24 hours. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
The multifunctional unmanned aircraft is designed for deep reconnaissance, artillery fire adjustment, and precision strikes against enemy assets located far beyond the front lines. Its operational range allows it to reach targets in remote regions of Russia, including areas beyond the Urals and in Siberia. The aircraft features a wingspan of nearly 5 metres.
Technical specifications and electronic warfare resistance
The aircraft is powered by an engine equipped with an electronic fuel injection system and possesses an ultra-low radar cross-section. The design allows for versatile deployment, functioning either as a kamikaze drone or by dropping munitions. Additionally, the system exhibits high resistance to electronic warfare devices.
The system was developed and manufactured by a domestic enterprise with extensive experience, which previously produced the Dovbush T20 and Kotyhoroshko drones operating on the battlefield since 2022. The Dovbush T40 evolved from the Dovbush T20 model based on operational feedback from combat use.
Scale of unmanned system codification
Since the beginning of 2026, the defense ministry has codified and approved 413 unmanned aerial systems for deployment within the Defence Forces of Ukraine. The vast majority of these systems were produced by domestic manufacturers.
