Russian strikes have destroyed 1.2 million copies of textbooks, with a significant portion comprising publications on the Ukrainian language, literature, and history of Ukraine. Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi announced this during the 'Serpneva-2026' conference. This was reported by Ukrinform, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The official noted that 13.5 million units of educational literature had been printed this year. The destroyed print runs directly affect key humanitarian disciplines.
The government has instructed relevant agencies to rapidly restore lost educational materials
The Prime Minister stressed that the Ministry of Education and the Cabinet of Ministers received clear tasks to compensate for the losses in the shortest possible time. At the same time, Minister of Education and Science Andrii Butenko emphasized the agency’s cooperation with specialized publishers to establish additional printing.
Schools continue to be provided with alternative sources of information
‘Both the Minister of Education and the government have received clear instructions and tasks to restore the destroyed textbooks in the shortest possible time and properly supply the schools,’ said Serhii Koretskyi. The head of the educational agency reminded that participants in the educational process can use digital versions of the literature.
Systemic destruction of printing infrastructure continues
Earlier, on August 1, warehouses of the Ranok publishing house burned down in Kharkiv due to an enemy strike, resulting in the destruction of 600,000 textbooks and millions of book copies. In addition, on July 2, the building of the Megapolygraph printing house in the capital, where materials for the academic year were being prepared, sustained damage.
